Heart Check
“Whenever you come to the word and you have a heart that says, ‘Speak Lord, I am listening. I want to hear and understand and obey your word.’ Based on the promise of God’s word, the life of God and the fruit of God will start flowing through you. But that’s not going to happen until you learn to study the Bible for yourself.”
– Pastor Tony Walliser
Heart Check
“May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.”
– Psalm 19:1-6 NLT
In a world full of stress, poor eating habits and hypertension, as part of a healthy lifestyle, no matter one’s age or workout routine, checking your heart from time to time is a wise choice.
It can allow early detection of potential heart issues or help detect current problems or concerns. Regardless, it’s important to keep one’s heart healthy and strong.
Today, let’s do a different kind of heart check. Let’s do an assessment of our faith heart.
How is your heart?
Hardened?
Full of distractions?
Open, willing, and ready to be filled?
Let’s make a choice to strive to study and dwell upon His Word, to please the Lord through our words and our actions, and to bring glory and honor and praise to the Lord, our rock and our redeemer.
Not to somehow earn favor or earn our salvation (which can’t be done – salvation is only found through the grace and forgiveness of Jesus Christ and what He did on the cross).
Let’s focus on the words that we say.
May they be glorifying to the Lord.
May they please Him and lift Him high.
Let’s check our heart…
What are the meditations of our heart?
Are we studying His Word, dwelling on Him, living for Him, glorifying Him?
Let’s thank God for the blessings in our lives.
Pray that we may all strive to become the men of God that He has called us to be.
Pray that we live what we say we believe.
Let’s check our heart.
May we bring Him all glory and honor and praise.
For He is worthy.
“My son, pay attention to my words; listen closely to my sayings.
Don’t lose sight of them; keep them within your heart.
For they are life to those who find them, and health to one’s whole body.
Guard your heart above all else, for it is the source of life.
Don’t let your mouth speak dishonestly, and don’t let your lips talk deviously.
Let your eyes look forward; fix your gaze straight ahead.
Carefully consider the path for your feet, and all your ways will be established.
Don’t turn to the right or to the left; keep your feet away from evil.
