1.  I’ve Got To Reveal My Problem

He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will find compassion. (Prov. 28:13)

As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.  (Prov. 27:17)

2.  I’ve Got To Remember The Results

Can a man take fire in his bosom and his clothes not be burned? Or can a man walk on hot coals and his feet not be scorched? (Prov. 6:27-28)

    • Physical consequences

At the end of your life you will groan, when your flesh and body are spent. You will say, “How I hated discipline!”  (Prov. 5:11-12, NIV)

    • Discovery

He who walks in integrity walks securely, but he who perverts his ways will be found out. (Prov. 10:9)

    • A Hurt Family

A foolish son is a grief to his father and bitterness to her who bore him (Prov. 17:25)

    • Poverty

Poverty and shame will come to him who neglects discipline (Prov. 13:18)

    • Death

Stolen water is sweet; food eaten in secret is delicious! But little do they know that the dead are there.  (Prov. 9:17-18, NIV)

The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it.  (Prov. 27:12, NIV)

3.  I’ve Got To Recognize My Pattern

Watch the path of your feet and all your ways will be established. (Prov. 4:26)

4.  I’ve Got To Renew My Mind

Wrong Thoughts Lead To Wrong Actions

Do not let them [instruction] depart from your sight; keep them in the midst of your heart. For they are life to those who find them and health to all their body.  Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life. (Prov. 4:21-23)

5.  I’ve Got To Reinstate Christ As Lord

A man is a slave to whatever has mastered him.  (2 Pet. 2:19, NIV)

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart (Ps. 73:26)

The Key: Let God Meet My Deepest Needs

I Can Start Over Right Now

For though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again, but the wicked are brought down by calamity.  (Prov. 24:16, NIV)
