It’s Time to Grow Up

For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. (Colossians 1:9-10)

1.  Knowing God’s Will

    That you may be filled with the knowledge of His will (1:9)

    A.  Acquiring truth

        To be filled with the knowledge

    B.  Accepting truth

        In all spiritual wisdom

    C.  Applying truth

        And understanding

2.  Growing In Your Walk With Christ

    So that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord to please Him (1:10)

    As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him. (Colossians 2:6)

   A.  By following Christ's example

        Since Christ also suffered for you leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps (1 Peter 2:21)

    B.  Through living the exchanged life

        I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. (Galatians 2:20)

3.  Showing Christ Through Your Good Work

    Bearing fruit in every good work (9:10)

    Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father (Matthew 5:16)

    A.  Produces fruit

        He who abides in Me, and I in him, he bears much fruit (John 15:5)

    B.  Praises God

        They may by your good works which they observe, glorify God (1 Peter 2:12, NKJV)
