How To Have A Great Life #4 January 28, 2007 AM Making the Most of Your Time Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. (Eph. 5:15-16)
1. The Pressures That Fill Your Time We have work. We have personal tasks. We have household tasks. We have social obligations. We have recreation. We have unexpected things.
2. The Priorities That Need Your Time Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these other things will be added. (Matthew 6:33) G – God Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus withdrew to a solitary place to be alone with God and pray. (Mark 1:35) O – Others Be devoted to one another in brotherly love (Romans 12:10) D – Destiny That our God will count you worthy of your calling, and fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith with power (2 Thess. 1:11)
3. The Plan To Manage Your Time Prioritize: Put First Things First Martha was distracted with all her preparations … "Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; but only one thing is necessary” (Luke 10:40,42) Scrutinize: Examine Your Schedule “Everything is permissible for me - but not everything is beneficial.” (1 Cor. 6:12 - NIV) Plan for My Purpose, My Personality, and My Gifts There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven. (Eccl. 3:1) Recognize: Make Jesus Lord Over Your Time The fear of the LORD adds length to life (Prov. 10:27 - NIV) Then the sun stopped in the middle of the day and delayed going down about a full day. There has never been a day like it before or since. (Joshua 10: 13b-14a)
